With the recent takeover of GitHub by a company with a notorious history, I have joined the bandwagon. Personally, I think M$ must own some portion of gitlab and decided to do this to make money. But, jokes aside for a moment. I have not removed my github repositories yet, but all of my work is now hosted at gitlab. Go check it out: https://gitlab.com/users/bgstack15/projects.
