It now shows only the current context (Writer, Calc, Impress, etc.)'s filetype in the MRU. But if you want to revert to the original functionality, there is a feature flag for it!

You have to go into Expert Config (menu Tools -> Options... -> treeview LibreOffice -> Advanced -> button "Open Expert Configuration") and change
org.openoffice.Office.Common
to False. That's it! Isn't FLOSS so great, because they can add feature flags instead of just making an unchangeable decision? It's almost like there are real people involved who care about their users.

That site doesn't have the downloadable asset, but extensions.openoffice.org does! You want exact file https://extensions.openoffice.org/en/download/4216.

I also mirror this extension in case this upstream site ever takes it down: portablephotoalbum-1.0.3.oxt

This is a very useful extension if you use other software to generate a presentation and export it as a set of images.

You can force LibreOffice's menu icons on by visiting Tools -> Options dialog, LibreOffice -> Advanced -> button "Open Expert Configuration." This new dialog has a search box, where you enter
iconsinmenu
and set these values:

ShowIconsInMenues: true

IsSystemIconsInMenus: false

After a restart, you can see the icons in the menus!

The OOTB (out-of-the-box) experience is now complete, but there are way more
buttons to finish. Some of these buttons are hand-drawn, because a modern
office suite does a lot more than Office 95 ever did. <img alt="LibreOffice Calc with

The story

I run in to this on occasion, and here the solution. Sometimes upon opening a
file, and certainly after printing, my spreadsheet will retain the additional
dashed lines that show how many cells will fit on a printed page. These
additional lines annoy me, so I wanted to know how to turn them off. After
some Internet searching, I found the answer. <img alt="spreadsheet showing a random

xfce4-settings-manager, chtheme, and manually written
.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini).

![basic interface for libreoffice

writer](/2019/06/libreoffice-plain.png)
No theming for Writer

Turns out you simply need to install an additional package:

sudo apt-get install libreoffice-gtk3

![libreoffice writer with gtk3

theming](/2019/06/libreoffice-integrated.png) Writer with gtk3 theme applied

Devuan also has a libreoffice-gtk2 package, which I didn't try. I haven't
tried a Fedora minimal/net install with Fluxbox and LibreOffice, so I don't
know if the libreoffice-gtk3 rpm is necessary there, but it's in the repos.

sudo dnf install libreoffice-gtk3

I was impressed by this behavior. Just install an extra .so file, and boom,
LibreOffice integrates with your desktop
theme. LibreOffice is some great stuff!

the filename into the document. In Calc, it's a little different, but still
possible. You can access the raw filename and sheet with CELL("filename").
To make it pretty, use a longer formula.

=LEFT(REPLACE(LEFT(CELL("filename"),FIND("'",CELL("filename"),2)),1,9,"/"),LEN(REPLACE(LEFT(CELL("filename"),FIND("'",CELL("filename"),2)),1,9,"/"))-1)
